Sake Wine

2 LB black Muscat raisins

2 LB dainty rice

2 lemons – sliced

2 oranges – sliced

5 LB white sugar

2 LB brown sugar

6 quarts warm water

2 packets (2 tbsp.) dry yeast

Throw all ingredients but yeast into a pickle crock.  Sprinkle yeast over top and leave over night.  Stir with a wooden spoon every night for 2 weeks.  Bottle and let mature for approximately 1 year.

I was working in a reproduction shop in Scarborough many years ago and the neatest character of a woman came into the shop.  We got chatting and she gave me this recipe.  She swears that it's the best sweet wine she has ever had and cures everything from insomnia to arthritis.  She never told me her age but her stories far outdated her looks.  I've never actually made this but one day.....
